I working on a Ruffian as well. Had the same problems with first recompiled Kernel.
I am still using 2.2.9, it works using NOT using NCR53c7/8xxx, BUT NCR53c8/8xxx.
To go shure I also chose SYM53C8XX, donīt think this is necessary, was satisfied to
see the sytem booting again.
Donīt know about iomega.
