problems with postscript

Subject: problems with postscript

    Hi list,

    is it just me and my particular installation or have other people also
    experienced problems with their postscript tools?
    When I try to look at a postscript file (any postscript file) with gv,
    the GhostScript message window pops up with the error message:
    Postscript interpreter failed in main window. ps2pdf will invariably
    produce a floating point exception when called and dvips will produce
    weird stuff at the top left corner of the page (looked at with a gv on
    another system).

    I am running a stock SuSE AXP 6.3 with TGA support on an AS 250 4/266.

    Thanks for any pointers, especially to how to trouble shoot the problem.
