It is recommended to put the kernel together with milo on the needed
DOS-partition, then you won't get this problem, as every milo is capable
to start the kernel from a DOS-partition since 6.4.

For this you can find an update package on our ftp-server:
ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/axp/update/7.0/a1/sysvinit-2.78-139.alpha.rpm
It is not a kernelproblem, just a bug in killproc, which only
occurs on Alpha.

I'll check that (I currently didn't even find where these adresses are
mentionied).

You'll find a sticker on the back of the CD-case.

I'll check that with our X-developers.
