Subject: Start from the 3rd block or cylinder?

Another question regarding the initial installation:
In the manual page 25, I am supposed to start the first
cylinder for either data or swap from the 3rd block.
However, fdisk does not show anything in block unit, but
in cylinder unit. Are they identical?
