Problems with kernel and DAC960 driver

Subject: Problems with kernel and DAC960 driver

    I am trying to compile the kernel with the DAC960 driver. It compiles as
    a Module, but then I can not load the module with the make modules
    command.

    When compiling it errors out with:
    cpp: output pipe has been closed
    gcc: Internal compiler error: program cc1 got fatal signal 9
    make[3]: *** [DAC960.o] Error 1

    Does anyone have any answers that could provide some info?
