Few days ago, Stefan suggested to use YaST to partition the hdd.
As far as we accomplished, we were able to label as 1 large partition
# mke2fs /dev/hdc
look like there are partition a w/ BSD disklabel partition
# mount -t ext2 /dev/hdc /mnt
(when /dev/hdc1 used, you can mount, but after reboot, it will not)
size was recognized correctly:
Ex.
Filesystem 1k-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/hda2 19253493 5102606 13172623 28% /
/dev/hdc 73889880 20 70136448 0% /disk1
/dev/hdd 73889880 20 70136448 0% /disk2
quote start-----------------------------------------------------------
I use two 36 GB disks. I also was unable to partition them, but I could
mke2fs on the whole disk. I now mount the top devices directly:
Filesystem 1k-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/sdb 34443777 316217 32349236 1% /usr/local0
/dev/sdc 34443777 9406953 23258500 29% /usr/local1
It seems to be a problem with fdisk
quote end------------------------------------------------------------
So, we are able to partition... but
YaST can not be used still, please teach me correct way of using them w/
larger IDE hdd.
So far, I could not create normal Linux partition table and therefore, we
are unable to setup any RAID configs.
Also, since I can not partition them w/ YaST, I am still not able to install
system on this 75GB IDE hdd from IBM.
If anyone has good story, please let list know.
Best regards,
