I had a similar problem which I finally tracked down my SCSI-scanner, which
was improperly terminated. I was fooled by everything working perfectly OK
under WindowsNT. I'm speculating my SCSI adapter might be able to do some
active termination which only the NT driver, but not the Linux driver,
enables.
When I disconnected my scanner and removed all external SCSI cabling, my
Alpha runs Linux perfectly.
(The scanner has only a single SCSI-1 connector, not the usual two, so I
can't just plug an ordinary terminator at the end of the SCSI chain. The
scanner also does not have any switch for enabling internal termination or
anything such. Avoid the AGFA Snapscan 600...)

Hi,
I have SuSE 6.3-AXP running on a LX164.
I have two great problems an i hope somebody can help me:
First: Everytime i start yast the blue version screen apears an then the
maschine break down. There is no way out but power off.
Second: I try to compile the kernel to support my IBM TR 16/4 ISA-card.
I use 'Networking Support', 'Token Ring driver support' and
'IBM Tropic chipset based adapter support'. When compiling the kernel, i
get the error 'net_init.o: no such file or directory'.
This error happens in the Makefile in Linux/drivers/net line 47, section
config_net.
Who can help me. There is no way to deal without Token Ring.
Thanks in advance
Wolfgang
