Subject: X4.0.2(from src) upgrade on SuSE 7.0

I recently had to upgrade to x4.0.2 (+TGA2 patch) to get X running on
    my
DS20 alpha server. Of coarse I had to dnld/compile the sources. It is
    now
working. I have X4.0.2/kde up and running. Only thing is I can only
    start
    kdm/xdm
manually from a root login. When I let SuSE do it by running the script
/sbin/init.d/rc3.d/S30xdm at boot up it does not work. If I login and
    run
    this script manually it works.
    Manually I do it like:

    $DISPLAYMANAGER=kdm (or xdm)
    $sbin/init.d/rc3.d/S30xdm start

When it is done by the startup routines these are the error messages I
    get
    in my log files.

Again if I run this script after logging in as root as indicated
above, kdm/xdm comes up and I can login and use kde and all is well.
I've used yast to set the kdm as default over xdm but either way
    does the same thing.

    Anyone with any ideas???

    Thanks in advance.
