READ THE ANSWERS BELOW ON GREEN AND UPPERCASE.
Hi,
I would like to import some things from 8.0.x to my newly installed 8.1.5
on SUSE-Linux 6.3.
When trying this , receiving errors like :
Import: Release 8.1.5.0.0 - Production on Wed Mar 22 20:38:09 2000
(c) Copyright 1999 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.
Connected to: Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.5.0.1 - Production
With the Partitioning and Java options
PL/SQL Release 8.1.5.0.0 - Production
Export file created by EXPORT:V08.00.04 via conventional path
Warning: the objects were exported by SYSTEM, not by you
THIS IS JUST A WARNING, YOU ARE TRYING TO IMPORT WITH A DIFERENT USER THAN
THE USER THAT YOU USE TO MAKE THE EXPORT, YOU CAN AVOID THIS USING THE
IMPORT WITH A COUPLE OF PARAMETERS (FROMUSER=SYSTEM TOUSER="THE NEW
USER"
import done in US7ASCII character set and US7ASCII NCHAR character set
IMP-00067: Could not convert to server character set's handle
IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully
WHEN YOU CREATED THE NEWER DATABASE YOU SET ANOTHER CHARACTER SET OF THE
DATABASE, THE SIMPLE WAY IT'S TO RECREATE AGAIN (FROM THE BEGINING) THE
TARGET DATABASE AND SET THE SAME CHARACTER SET AS THE ONE THAT IS BEING USED
ON THE DATABASE USET FOR THE EXPORT.
Who can help ???
Thanks,
Yves Haegeman
