I have a very strange problem with making a client installtion.
The Server 8.1.6r2 /SuSE 7.0 is installed and working fine . I can make
connections locally and from remote hosts.
However if I perform a 8.1.6r2 Client install on a SuSE 7.0 workstation
things dont go so well . netasst configures and tests OK . And there is no
either explicit or logged errors on installation.
However when I try and run and CLI tools such as sqlplus or tnsping i get
segmentation faults. When I look at the BIN directory all these tools have
"backup" copies e.g sqlplusO . the Make.log shows this to be the result
of a
mv -f command on the compiled sqlplus and then a mv command from
the sqlplus/lib directory to the new sqlplus file.
This is NOT the case on the server install above. (Where theses tools
work fine).
Note these *O files dont run either (seg fault).
Anyone else had that .. or knows what is going on.
I dont think this is a corrupt file issue as these are from Original ORACLE
supplied media.
Thanks
