    Hello everybody.

    I'm helping to migrate an application (Client -
    Server) from windows (Forms &
    Reports 6) to Linux (Forms & Reports 6i). I want you
    to mention what problems
    i'm having while migrating, maybe some of you could
    help me with some issues
    ;)

    With forms I've problems with various unexpected
    closing forms, and finally
    icons are not displayed.

    With reports, which is my bigger concern, reports are
    at least 10 times
    SLOWER than with windows, i'll explain further:

    The test was made like these, the same application
    running on two machines,
    with the same hardware (CPU,RAM,etc), consulting the
    same data, one with
    Win98 (A) and the other with SuSE7.2 (B) (No servers
    in linux, just as a
    client machine).

    Making the first try with windows, if takes 15 seconds
    to display the report
    and automatically opens a new window that is called
    "Oracle Background
    Engine".

    Linux in the first try takes 35 seconds to display the
    report.

    If i call another report with windows while the window
    "Oracle Background
    Engine" is opened, it takes 3 seconds to display the
    report, and subsequents
    request take the same time.

    If i do the same with linux, it takes again 35 seconds
    to show the report and
    subsequents request take the same time.

    So, Reports in windows takes 3 seconds and reports in
    linux take 35 seconds!!.

    My questions are: How can i solve this?, Is there an
    equivalent to "Oracle
    Background Engine" for linux?, Do people who works
    with Oracle Reports in
    linux/unix work at this speed?
