Subject: [suse-oracle] ORA-27044 to create tablespace (Re: [suse-oracle] Raw device)

    Hello folks,

I posted several question about using raw device from Oracle 9i on Linux
for S/390. And I already got several useful hints and tips. But I don't
    succeed it yet. Please advice me about those items;

    1. How relates those values? Should be set same size or not?

    - "-b" of dasdfmt command blocksize parameter
    - "db_block_size" of Oracle initialize parameter
    - PE size of Logical Volume

    2. Should size parameter of "create tablespace" statement be same as that
of physical partition or logical volume ?

    3. On several try, I always got ORA-27044 message like follows; (-filename-
is either raw device name or actual dbf file name.)

create tablespace usrrawts datafile '-filename-' size 10M reuse
    *
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01119: error in creating database file '-filename-'
ORA-27044: unable to write the header block of file
    Linux Error: 22: Invalid argument
    Additional information: 4

In "Linux Error: 22: Invalid argument" message, which argument is invalid?
And "Additional information: 4" means return code of write() function? Is
it caused by not SuSE but Oracle itself?

    Best regards, M.Kamitohno
