    In summary :

    a) I would not advise an upgrade on an OS upgrade with Oracle installed, aka
    link issues.

    b) If you are starting a new project NOW then I would advise using SLES-7 for
this project running Oracle 9.2 (9i release 2) which should do you for many
    years.

    c) I do not advise you to even consider using a new OS version such as UL for
at least two years until the market & technology has settled down.

    d) The new version of SuSE /UL will not really provide you with anything that
you will need to run Oracle 9.2 - dont forget that Oracle Databases ( I have 9
years with them solid) are in the main OS independent so unless the new OS
provides some new support for new devices (disks etc) that you relly need for
your project then it is not worth the risk using anything than SLES-7 which
    works ok.
