    Hi Lars

    Thanks for the info.
Well, if the support of SLES-7 will continue the next time, we will use it.
The only reason for me to ask is the product lifecycle.
We don't want to install a "old" release only to upgrade in few month
because of no longer support. The description of SLES-7 was "Maintenance
for 2 Years" ; SLES-7 was released last year. So the maintenance will
    end next year ?
It is not that simple task to upgrade a fully productive customer
environment to new OS/Oracle Releases without installing on parallel
    server first.
We have to do this on weekend and on the next workday all have to run as
    (or better) than before.
So we have no interest in doing this every couple of month ;-)

We have to upgrade to Oracle9i because of some problems with 8.1.6. And
therefore we have to upgrade to - or in this case fresh install - SLES
first to meet the 9i requirements.

But it is no time critical task to do the update. If SLES8 will be out
next month with full oracle support and certification it is worth to
    think about waiting for it.

    Regards
    Michael Rauter
