I have installed 9iR2 on SuSE 8.1 with no problems. Make sure that you install the Development tools from the SuSE CDs. Also, you should install the orarun9i.rpm on your machine first. It sets up all the environment variables for you and makes Oracle installation a lot easier. You can get it at:ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/supplementary/commercial/Oracle/Good luck.
