Ok,
First off, thanks to all the responses on my other thread, I finished the Oracle 9ir2 database install on my SuSE 8.1 box. They greately improved the reliability of the Oracle Installer at least, it only took one shot this time.
Couple questions:
1.) when running the root.sh script I received the following errors:
Adding entry to /etc/oratab file...
Entries will be added to the /etc/oratab file as needed by
Database Configuration Assistant when a database is created
Finished running generic part of root.sh script.
Now product-specific root actions will be performed.
Starting RPM to install the Legato Single Server Version (LSSV) product.
Form more information, please refer to the Linux installation section
in the LSSV Installation Guide at http://www.legato.com/LSSV

** Installation of LSSV did not succeed. Please refer
** to the Installation Guide at http://www.legato.com/LSSV
** and contact Oracle customer support if necessary.
Is this anything to be concerned about?
2.) I created a seperate Sys V run script for oracle 8i and 9ir2. It sets up the /etc/profile.d and /etc/oratab files appropriately before starting up. 9ir2 was a bit tricky as the init{SID}.ora file is not created in $ORACLE_HOME/dbs when a database is created.
3.) When installing the Development Suite and the Application Studio, should they be installed into the same ORACLE_HOME directory as the 9ir2 database server or into a new directory? (I guess I could stop looking for free help and read some docs...)
Thanks,
Josh
