mydb is the default in /etc/profile.d/oracle.sh
You need to use oraenv to set your environment. This script relies on the file /etc/oratab. See the install and/or Admin docs on http://technet.oracle.com

Ah, I should have done env | grep -i ora.
Yes it is set, it's set to mydb.
