Yes, and mydb is the name of the actual db I created (went with the installer default). In /opt/oracle/product/8i/dbs there is a initmydb.ora file. The Oracle enviornment variables are exactly the same in the chroot as they are from a normal login as they both just use the /etc/profile.d scripts. sqlplus works when not in the jail (with ORACLE_SID=mydb), just not in the jail.
