Any patchlevel is fine for the installation, install before or after
Oracle, it does not matter.

Probably not, unless there are other Oracle components/executables that

You can keep the parameters as they are. Only if you got a really big
machine and database do you need to think about changes.

I recommend removing gcc 3.2 and adding two links /usr/bin/[g]cc ->
/opt/gcc295/bin/[g]cc.
