Yes, to both. I used the "Samba Client" YaST2 plugin to enable Windows
users to be authenticated for Linux purposes, and it updates
pam_unix2.conf and nsswitch.conf. All the Windows users/groups show up
with getent, show up in the KDM login list, etc. In fact, Windows users
can log in and do everything expected, _except_ use sudo.

To make this all work I did have to add pam_mkhomedir.so to
/etc/pam.d/xdm, since we don't share home directories between Windows
and Linux, but other than that it was point-and-click.
