sorry i actually got rid of the winders server last night, what a nightmare,
no-ip.com <http://no-ip.com> was suppose to be forwarding all my email to my
gmail account and that never happened. the reason it doesnt respond to the
telnet is probably because the ip address had changed last night when i took
down the server. now there is just the suse sles server sitting there and no
mail going in or out.

ill look into the evo problem, but im not always on the comcast network and
wanted to relay mail through my server from where ever i am, but i will be
looking into webmail for that.

every mail server i have setup i have never had a proxy interfaces line and
it has worked, i dont run a proxy server, is it still needed?

im pretty sure the DNS issue is fixed as well. i have the MX record set to
the local server ip address. got rid of the dupes.

in my mail logs im getting a new error which i never use to see:

Nov 1 09:51:14 mail postfix/qmgr[16166]: 717D71A979: to=<
supermediastore@howtoburndvd.net>, relay=none, delay=0, status=deferred
(delivery temporarily suspended: host
smtp.comcast.net[63.240.76.27<http://63.240.76.27>]
refused to talk to me: 450 too frequent connects from
68.59.254.210<http://68.59.254.210>,
please try again later.)

the above has never happened before. is there a way to tell postfix how
often to connect?

i also get these errrors:

Nov 1 09:52:23 mail postfix/smtp[16982]: D42BF1A97D: to=<
nick@computernick.com>, relay=none, delay=0, status=bounced (mail for
192.168.0.1 <http://192.168.0.1> loops back to myself)

which i dont know what it is talking about, .0.1 is the mail server address.

here is a snipplet of the mail.log file for clarity....

Nov 1 09:52:23 mail postfix/qmgr[16166]: D42BF1A97D: removed

tracking the D42BF1A97D qued message it comes it, gets scanned, then tries
to be delivered but it says it loops back to myself. then it gets removed at
the end.

anyone make anything of this? it looks like it should work.

thank you so much for your help thus far.

Nick
