ok then i must ask the obvious question. what is the point of yast
gui? i mean if you are going to have to spend time digging around in
config files anyway, why even waste your time and just start there to
begin with? i find it much more confusing going back and forth then
just sticking to what i know best which is the good ol "vi" and doing
it by hand, with the proper documentation that is. which that is
something that ive found that sles lacks greatly, i have found how-tos
for debian, gentoo, fedora, you name it, but suse mail server
documentation is sparce, and the stuff you dont find doesnt give you a
working mail server! just like the yast tool, i find that rather
ironic. dont get me wrong, i like suse, and im sticking with this
until is working, purly becuase i want to accomplish this, but man am
i having a time finding decent documentation on the subject, mostly a
bunch of archived mailing lists or forums where no one really answered
the questions that were asked.

sorry i have been up until 3am the past couple nights battling this
thing and my mail is totally down right now (hence the gmail account)
so im getting a little frustrated with an OS that "just works" and
"just rocks" on the desktop but seems to be just like every other OS
on the server side.

thanks for the help thus far, i will be reading up on those postfix
docs you supplied, just wish yast would do most of the hard work for
me.

while im at it, has anyone gotten the web based cyrus admin program to
work on sles? cant find any documentation on that either. i think my
problem (one of them) is that yast isnt automagicly making the mail
dirs that are required for the user accounts when you set the mail
permissions when you make the user. and that command line admin too
is hidious. wheres my mkmaildir command when i need it.
