I am about to deploy my first truly "public" linux box ... running sles9.
As I consider myself still a newbie at serious linux work (I've been doing
networking for 15 years, but mostly netware file/print) I want to make sure
I have the box tightened down appropriately. I've been going through HOW
TO's and etc as much as practical.
While looking into bastille, it appears that there are rpms for "suse 9.x"
but nothing that mentions SLES specifically. Can I anticipate that the
bastille process will execute predictably on SLES?
Given that this box will be an apache 1.3x web server with php, are there
any "gotchas" with bastille? I expect to make use of SUDO for granting web
developer access, and will allow SSH from only selected IP addresses, telnet
and other unneeded services will be disabled. Anything else in particular I
should be thinking about?
Peter
