Most common reasons are:
- duplex mismatch on interface
- no answer from the first DNS in resolv.conf
- reverse IP is not resolvable

Subject: [suse-sles-e] SLES 9 Connection very slow

Hi,

I have Problems with connections to my SLES 9 Server (Dual Xeon, 1GB/s
Lan). If i want open an ssh connection or an http i must first wait 10
till 20 seconds if anything is happen. Ping times are correct:

PING oracle (192.168.xx.xx) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from oracle (192.168.xx.xx): icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.079 ms
64 bytes from oracle (192.168.xx.xx): icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.074 ms
64 bytes from oracle (192.168.xx.xx): icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=0.117 ms
64 bytes from oracle (192.168.xx.xx): icmp_seq=4 ttl=64 time=0.072 ms
64 bytes from oracle (192.168.xx.xx): icmp_seq=5 ttl=64 time=0.068 ms

But Connections to the server is very slow and the processor load is at
a normal level: "load average: 0.00, 0.01, 0.00"

Anybody an idea?
