Gnome is only the default. KDE is alive and well within SLES and SLED. All
you need to do is select it as your default and gnome will go away. There
is no advantage to gnome. No added feature in SLES for gnome desktop
verses KDE. You even get the 3D cube feature in KDE In SLED. This should
not be a big concern. Which one is presented first is just someone's idea
of unified marketing. Making little or no UI difference between server and
desktop (Microsoft) should make non-Linux Corporate Shops get the warn and
fuzzes!
YOU is another matter altogether. The new update architecture leaves lots
to be desired. It is a serious problem in a HPC enviroment.
