Subject: [suse-sles-e] Add/remove Virtual IP online.

Hello,

Perhaps a stupid question, but i'm wondering how i can add or remove a virtual IP address ONLINE.

Obviously I can add or remove virtual IP's with yast, but when yast saves the configuration it restarts ALL network interfaces and temporarily the applications loose their connections which is not great in server environments.

Another way is using 'ifconfig <interface> add/del' statements, but then i need to leave the standard configuration files in /etc/sysconfig/network aside which is not advised.

Are their other commands i'm not aware of?
