Subject: [suse-sles-e] SLES10 RC3 and YaST XEN Tools - Working OK?

In SuSE 10.1, we found the YaST tool for creating a new virtual machine
from scratch would always fail, saying the newly created vm could not be
started. We tried a number of different methods, finally settling on
using the xen cli tools and manually editing config files. It works,
but we are not 100% comfortable and want to migrate to SLES10 as soon as
practicable.

We are now testing SLES10 RC3 to see if this YaST module and the other
bits have been fixed.

So far, the tool does generate a few errors, but now at least the
console for the to-be-installed vm starts and it boots the installation
cdrom.

Has anyone else tested this with RC3 outside of Novell, and what have
been your results? We are looking at putting the virtual machine files
into separate lvm partitions, so we can migrate them to a SAN easily at
a later date (or expand them prior to their move if need be).

It's either SLES10 or VMware Infrastructure3, and we need to make a
decision in the next few weeks.

Thanks!
Mark
