Please check ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/samba/README then you'll
see why this is a beta package. All the packages pub/projects or
pub/people are no official maintenace updates.

To make it clearer to me:
Did you find a ldap:/mayserver in your smb.conf?
If yes, was this configuration created by YaST, by a separate Samba
config tool, or was it your configuration created with your editor.
Does your Samba server still has the issue mentioned in the initial
mail even if you use ldap://mayserver in smb.conf?
