important, to bug reports - it became a nightmare. We passed thru this
nightmare with SLES9, and have it pretty stable after SP3 was released
(but not before - release was not working at all, SP1 had numerous bugs,
SP2 changed many drivers and caused numerous n=migration problems, as
you know. Sp3 is the first SP which is really stable). SLES10 have more
features vs SLES9 (SLES9 was in reality just 2.6 kernel adaptation), so
we can expect more problems in release. And (the worst) no one in Novell
want to make it work before it is officually lunched (they like to see
numerous magazines trying it and writing _something is excellent but
many things do not work at all?_.

more important benefit (kde was always much more production-grade system

but I hear that they was thinking about replacing it with other
components. (see last eWeek). After it, no one will need SuSe at all.

Re: last few posts to this list

I hear Ubuntu Dapper LTS has been released. Maybe everyone should try it
out, oh wait it uses Gnome ONLY. Or perhaps everyone should switch over
to RedHat so they can triple their software licensing costs AND use
Gnome. Or hey, lets all switch to Solaris. I hear it is open source
now...oh wait they are Gnome too. The fact that anyone on this list
gives a crap about which default desktop environment a Linux SERVER is
running speaks volumes. It is all about runlevel 3 and command line,
learn it and extract yourself from this Desktop Linux debate. Hey I hear
MS Vista server rocks! Just hang out till 2008 and see! Now that's a
"production-grade" gui!

Maybe it is hardware or implementation, but honestly SLES 9 SP1 & 2 were
perfectly stable for us here.

It takes better than a year to integrate companies of Suse and Novell's
size. In the time frame between acquisition and SLES 9 release there
really weren't any major staffing changes at Suse. Novell didn't have a
Linux team prior to getting Suse so no one was replaced. It cracks me up
that everyone blames everything that is jacked up (from their point of
view) in Germany on Utah.

If you wanted to be a part of the SLES beta then you should have signed
up for it. If you did sign up for it and they didn't contact then you
are SOL, wait for release. If you want open public betas of server grade
Linux then go join up with someone like Ubuntu and have fun sitting
around the campfire singing kumbaya...and using Gnome.

I would love for someone to introduce me to an OS company who did
everything just how I think it should be done.
