Markus, it's all simple:
- iso file is definitely broken in SLES10 RC2 beta for i386 (checksum is OK
but if you run CD check on installation, it reports broken disk); I spent 3
hours yesterday, and I know it for sure (tried to download it from few
mirrors; tried few instalations; tried to burn it twice).

- installation do not work from this disk. It is not SLES10 problem, it is
CD comosition problem, I believe.

Beta RC2 was published for download (by testers and by partners) about 10
days ago. CD is broken until now. It means that NOBODY in the world
installed system from this CD, so it means that NOBODY even tested this RC2
installation.

So what are we talking about? Official beta testers.. dont make me lough, we
all know how many bugs we had related to the brand-name servers (HP for
example; DRAC for SP2 upgrade, etc...) in SLES9 ; so you better forget such
word _official beta testers_.

And then, you have _all or nothing_ approach. I could sign for beta testing,
but I could not promise to _test system not less than..._. I could (and I
can) promise to _install, run our solutions, write detailed report_, but no
one was interested.

I sent message about broken CD to the partnernet, let's see how it all
works.

It's all amazing. I know 3 - 5 people on suse-oracle list, who are ready to
_install SLES10 beta, try it and report problems_. I spend 5 - 6 hours
working for, de facto, Novell and try to report problems. Many other people
are ready to spend time (without payment from Novell), try their product (do
QA de facto) and report problems. And... Novell is not interested in this
free work... Amazing! If someone wants to work for me, test my products,
report bugs - I will care for him as much as I can.

Or we can think that Novell have enough beta testers? Hmm, see iso file
which is broken for 10 days... Who are this mistical beta testers? Fat big
players like DELL? They never can test anything except trivial installations
(who wil test Emulex 8000 cards, for example? Who will test _/usr on md
raid_ installarion? Who will test _I have IDE + SCSI and upgrade system on
SCSI_ configuration? Who wil test _Oracle @ NFS_ configuration? Your
mistical official beta testers? Hmm.....)

We had the same problem - broken ISO in Beta download - during SLES9 Sp2
testing (oh, you do not know? Sory, but I Do know).
Does it mean that no one tested those version with broken iso? What happen
if, for example, 'Asterisk at home' publish broken iso - how long it takes
to find it and replace it (I guess, few hours?). And how long it takes for
Novell - few weeks? So, no one is testing system seriousluy, and not a
surprise that many SuSe specific things go broken and are fixed later, after
the releases (want a list?)
