I did not mean FREE BETA FOR ALL.
I mean _relatively open beta for last RC* candidates, with extended stay on
them_. I mean _instead of releasing undertested RELEASE, make it last-chance
beta, RC beta (use any name), and allow it to download for everyone who can
sign (on computer, may be) ND agreement and promise to fill in feedback
report (at least once) in 2 weeks._ It delays (may be; may be, not) release
on a few weeks, but allows to integrate first bug fixes into the release
instead of issuing emergency update in 2 weeks after the release (as it
usually happen). Remember, that release is an installation base for future
service packsb and it is used for evaluation, so it must be as stable as
possible.
Yes, you release Beta's on schedule; but if you release beta which is 100%
useless, it is a common approach to make a hot fix and relpace it. It's one
more flaw in SuSe release process.

I did not apply because I could not promise so many time in testing (and
because I have access thru other channels anyway).
Many other people have access, too. Q. is _ why they cannot report problems
if they see them_? Just because you did not choose them (but you had not
authority over them - they had access because of other reasons - to make a
preview of the new system for developers - but why to drop useful
information, I guess?).
So you are saying, to be correct:
- we trust to the quality of our developers;
- we do not want to hear any feedback from anyone except few our official
testers;
- we never had emergency update in 2 - 3 weeks after first release;
- we always released perfect release-1 version;
Ok, let's see how it works with SLES10 - I can be wrong. All statements was
false in the past.
For now, we all claim SLES10 release as _guys, never count on it, wait for
service pack1, because it will be as buggy as you cant image_. Just from our
previous experience.
And seen your answers, I can only confirm this approach _SLES-XX release is
BETA, and SLES-xx SP1 is first real release_.
(It is not true for many companies; for example, Oracle 10.2.0.1 is real
release, not a beta).
