Try getent.
To get the passwd entries
getent passwd
Note that this gets the entries from whatever is configured in
nsswitch.conf (so most likely /etc/passwd and LDAP entries).

I can only confirm - OpenLdap @ SuSe works pretty stable, esp. if you do

use it for dynamic data.
Btw, what's about improving replication setup? For now, it is a whole
nightmare (to set up replication), compared with NIS replication (which
is
automatic)) or 'Fedora directory service' (where it is easily
configured).?
PS. Can anyone show me equivalent of 'ypcat' for ldap client? Something
alowing to see resulting passwd or group records?
