I'm very interested about it, too. I'm in the same situation like you: I've
considered to get the license for SLES, but my resources are little and this
is not possible, simply, for economical reasons.
I sopose that it's possible, so, in fact, there is a project that do it
already: CentOS. CentOS is the Red Hat Enterprise Server rebuilded from
sources licensed under GPL.
