My point here, is what exactly are you paying for with SLES? almost
everything in the SLES distribution is owned
by somebody that is not Novell. Novell owns a few apps, that mainly
are involved with SLES management, and
all of the various (superfluous) Novell/NDS management & integration
utilities.

When I pay Novell for a "License", I'm getting access to the update
service, and a license to use the software that
Novell owns. The rest of the software in that distribution, which
Novell does not own, I still have to worry about the
licensing. Either way, whether I pay for the update service or not, I
have to worry that Novell was ethical in the
software it has chosen for it's distribution.
