Most times it's actually the DNS settings. The ssh daemon tries to find
your name via reverse lookup. If it does not get an answer it waits
until timeout (which is about 5-7 seconds).
Not a fatal error, but annoying.
If you really don't need DNS at all on that server, just turn it off in
/etc/nsswitch.conf (remove the dns keywords). But I recommend you
document that move prominently, or somebody may have a hard time in 6
months trying to find out why DNS is not working :)
