You should build an rpm that requires exactly your installed version of
sendmail. This rpm does not even need to contain any files. If this rpm is
called, say, lock-sendmail, then install it via "rpm -ivh --justdb
lock-sendmail.rpm". This will prevent any updates of sendmail. Similarly,
you could install sendmail with the rpm --justdb option...
