1.)
my users comming all the way from Suse 8.2 are very much used to gv and
they told me that kghostview for example does not provide the functionality
they had with gv.
2.)
I understand SuSE's attempt to keep number of packages to maintain small
(makes the Distri cheaper to maintain).
BUT!
Try to understand your Customers:
- Why does something i have to pay for have less functionality than
something i can get for free! -
Sure, SLED has some advantages in comparison to OpenSuse but in this special
case OpenSuse would have been the better choice for us...
Sure, i can download gv from opensuse repositories and install it on
SLED-Systems
BUT!
When security-related bugs get fixed i have to manually update this single
package - which is a pain.
