We had problems not only with our SLES machines, but also with our redhat
machines on either Intel or AMD procs running either 32bit or 64bit
versions of the OS. According to our HP support cases, version 7.6 is
supposed to remedy the problem. We got around our issues by just disabling
hpasm.

Yes, at least I have hpasmd running:

$ ps aux | grep hpasm
root 8141 0.1 0.0 92248 1068 ? Ssl 13:17 0:26 hpasmd

I grepped for 'NMI' in /var/log/messages, and also in the output of dmesg,
but did not find anything

hpimlview reports the following (date columns not included, but correspond
more or less to the times of the incidents)

Class Severity Count
Network Adapter Repaired 8257
ASR Critical 1
ASR Critical 1
ASR Critical 1
ASR Critical 1
ASR Critical 1
ASR Critical 1
ASR Critical 1

I'm not quite sure what could have caused the ASR. I'm suspecting that my
UPS may have been overloaded. Could that generate these ASR? Anyway I've
reduced the load on the UPS, and I'll see if changes anything.

Thanks very much anyway,
