Hallo Heiko,
we have the same problem with the SCSI (internal and external RAID) on
HP ProLiant DL360 G4p.
There are high IO wait times and poor disk/nfs-performance and we've
tried the same steps and measures like you so far (and a few things more).
Fortunatly I've got a few hints for you to improve your performance.
- HP has delivered a HP ProLiant Support Pack (PSP) (which works only
with kernel 2.6.16.21-0.8 on SLES). You can upgrade/downgrade to this
kernel and try out the PSP.
- Furthermore there is new firmware available for HP ProLiant DL360 G4p
(Firmware 7.70-0, Febuary 2007)
You can test your performance with the commandos "vmstat" and "iostat".
There is a performance guide available at:
http://www.ncsa.uiuc.edu/UserInfo/Resources/Hardware/IBMp690/IBM/usr/share/man/info/en_US/a_doc_lib/aixbman/prftungd/2365c81.htm
I've also posted our problem in the Novell support forum at:
http://forums.novell.com/group/novell.support.sles.install-boot/readerNoFrame.tpt/@thread@768@F@10@D-,D@+768/@article@768
Just let me know, if my tips have solved your problem or if you have
additional hints for our problem.
Thanks in advance
Markus
