because they see only that the market is managing windows systems ...
and Novell has huge pressure from investors to "make investment pay
soon". To make serious cash fast one has to court windows client work
...

investing in and learning how to work/profit in an open world, the
payoff would be too slow for investors. So half of Novell works at
SUSE and for open source, and the other halves try to compete
quickly/soon in a windows world. Ugh.

I reallly believe novell would be much better off as a private company.
