Everyone,
We're having an issue across multiple SLES 8 and 9
systems where crond stops running (no errors or seg
faults). Since we run monitoring scripts and other
critical processes out of cron, we've run into issues
where cron stopped running and ultimately oracle
databases crashed (DB logs filled up a mount point).
I have not been able to determine why this is
occuring, so as a work around I opted to have cron run
under the init process (using the respawn approach).
In order to do this I need vixie cron to not fork, but
I don't see this as an option. Any ideas on how to do
this, or can it be done without recompiling cron's
rpm.
Thanks in advance,
Greg
