I will see if I can find more detailed description of the problem, and
how to reproduce it. A update for SP1 would not help because it not
possible to install SLES10 SP1 on a LPAR using vscsi.

Updating to SP1 from SLES10 will you a lots of strange behaviour, like
md5sum's changes on all the files all the time.
