I can say simpler. There are niches. GNOME+ext3 niche is used by Ubuntu, and
SLED can't take it (Ubuntu is bettter in this niche).
ReiserFS + KDE + YaST niche is empty, but Novell get out of it...
If you do not use your own tools 100% time (KDE for example) then they
degrade. Old Suse was 100% consistant OS; new one became a mix of different,
not well linked together, tools, like many other amateur Linuxes. Instead of
making YaST network enable - add ZEN, instead of making office staff work
well on KDE - bring Ximian, and so on... More and more mess in the system.
