We have an HP DL385G1 with Opteron 250 CPU, 10GB RAM with SLES10, 64-bit
version installed.
When we connect it to a bland external disc array via an LSIU320 host
adapter, we achieve approx 70MB/s read performance. The array
manufacturer claims the array can do 328MB/s
When I connect the server to an EMC CX500 via QLogic 2340 HBAs, and
read from a fibre-channel RAID 5 LUN, I get 140MB/s throughput.
I did the tests by doing a simple "dd if=file of=/dev/null bs=65536"
Both of these throughput figures I believe are low.
Can anyone suggest as to how I could improve on these figure ? I would
like to get somewhere nearer 200MB/s sequential read. (I am NOT
interested in random I/O performance)
Thanks,
GTG
