Sounds like the module hasn't made it into initrd during installation.

Option 1: Fire up rescue system with megaraid-old, mount the installation, check entries in /etc/sysconfig/kernel and run mkinitrd to build a new initrd including megaraid-old. Reboot, apply latest patches and check with hwinfo which module is now responsible for this controller. Update /etc/sysconfig/kernel accordingly and create a new initrd.

Option 2: You didn't write whether you use a service pack for installation or not. Get the latest one and install SLES9 with this one.

BTW: APIC/ACPI settings may influence your installation as well.
See: http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Kernel_Parameters_for_ACPI/APIC for more info.

Option 3: You have a support contract? File a support request. The guys at Novell ESC are familiar with this topic.
