Subject: [suse-sles-e] rc.status & custom init scripts

I have a service that can have multiple instances running at once and
I'm writing a custom init script (based on /etc/init.d/skeleton) to
control all of the instances. e.g. you'd call my script like
"/etc/init.d/my_script start id1" or "/etc/init.d/my_script stop id1"

I've written my own little functions to start/stop/check processes.
(from what I could see, startproc et al wouldn't work for me)

Everything is going fairly well except....

How do I control the text that /etc/rc.status prints ?

At the moment, when I start four instances, for each instance,
rc.status prints "Starting BLAH" where BLAH is the program name. I want
to change this to something like "Starting BLAH, instance BLEU" (and
then let rc.status print it's pretty stuff at the end of the line)

I've had a look at /etc/rc.status, and I can't see how I could possibly
change it. Heck, I can't even see the string "Starting" or see where it
might be included from !!!

Can someone tell me how to do this please ?

Thanks,

GTG
