Summary of original problem: I have a 4.7TB (ish) disc array connected
to my 64 bit SLES-10 server. I had problems creating paritions/LVM
volumes, with the resulting partitions usually ending up as being 700GB
or so.
Solution:
The cause of the problem, ultimately, is that the disc was labelled
using an MSDOS partition table. MSDOS does not support partitions
greater than 2TB. I used parted to create a GPT disc label, then used
YaST to create a partition, etc, and it then all worked a treat. I could
see nothing in YaST to allow me to select the disc label type.
Bug Report:
Once I find where to log a bug report, I'll file an entry saying that
YaST should perhaps have a little bit more sense, and not try to use an
MSDOS disc label on a disc bigger than 2TB.
