Yes and no. There is no way to have partitions larger than 2 TB with msdos
disk labels as those simply do not have enough space in their size fields.
To work with larger partitions you need to switch to GPT disk labels or, as
you've already noticed, do without a traditional partitioning scheme at all
by using the raw disk device and use logical volume management.
