really, it would be a lot easier, even more if you account that any HD
problem will be resolved only out of production time, after the replacement
HD arives in my hands....
it would give me enougth time to build a new boot....
but i´ve been reading some tech paper witch told me it IS possible to boot a
raid partition....
i don´t understand very well the innermost details of the boot sequence, but
I guess that woldn´t be impossible for the system to read an INITRD with
raid support to then mount the boot as a raid.... (well, the / must do
something like that, since the system must read /etc/raidtab to build the
raid arrays....), or am I wrong?

I´ve got here a handfull of options to try, just haven´t got the downtime
needed to test anything else...

Hi Joao,

saw your mail only now, so my answer may be a little late.

Seems to me that it would be impossible for your lilo to recognize a
software raid before the kernel has been loaded. Therefore everything is as
it should be. If you want to be shure that your bootsector can be reproduced
easily, why don't you just dd it somewhere to have a backup copy?

kind regards
Peter Gaebelein
