    Hi,

I'm new to the list, but I guess it only started a few days ago. I have been
looking with interest for a SuSE releasing a version for SPARC. I noticed on
Thursday that the folder on the FTP server was no longer empty. So that
evening I started downloading, hoever this was rather slow even with my
cable modem. So yesteday I managed to download my copy from ftp.gwdg.de this
downloade much faster, but I didn't get disk4 till this afternoon.

Well I have installed it on an Ultra30 and it seems to work well, I had a
problem with the configuration of SILO, i.e. it worked after the install
until I re-booted then it couldn't find the kernel. I tried one or two
    re-installs and got it working.

It looks like the guys at SuSE have done a good job as usual. I look forward
to the release version with anticipation.

I am hoping to use the SUN box to replace my COMPAQ NT server at home this
acts as file and print + Proxy server. Has anybody had any experience of
installing an additional PCI card, if so what make did you use? I need a
second NIC to connect to the cable modem, but I'm not sure what cards will
be supported by Linux. A colleague has prommised me a NIC of unspecified
type so I will post my findings once I have tried it.

    Thats all for now
